Structural UHPC perforated Dome for Al Rayyan Palace PCT was responsible for engineering, design, manufacture and installation of a white painted structural UHPC perforated Dome for a private palace in Al Rayyan, Qatar, 9.2m diameter wide and 4.7m high.

The scope of work also included the engineering, design, manufacture and installation of 3 FRP Domes finished with glass mosaic tiles.

A masterpiece of mould-making

The project design and geometry required the study and realization of extremely complex tooling.

A closed mould with removable diamond inserts was manufactured for casting of the UHPC panels in lateral position. The diamond inserts had to be removed from the de-moulded panel and replaced into position for each panel casting. The whole dome is mounted on site before lifting it on the roof and mounting it above the glass dome. in this project UHPC has shown it´s unique strength combined with certain lightness in design.
