Record Broken: 6,500 sqm Produced in One Month!

Our production team has achieved an outstanding milestone this month by producing over 6,555 square meters of advanced composite panels. This impressive accomplishment marks the highest monthly production ever in PCT’s history. This incredible feat was part of our ongoing works on the Mataf Ceiling project in Makkah, KSA. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Paddington Square Architectural Mast

PCT engineered and fabricated a 30-meter high architectural mast on Level 17 of the Paddington Square Office building in London, designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop. Constructed at PCT's facilities in Dubai, the mast uses advanced composite materials, specifically glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP). The mast, built in two 15-meter segments, is designed to flexibly respond to wind forces.

Stunning Façade at Dior Store, Mall of the Emirates

The newly renovated Dior Store at the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai features a stunning façade made with approximately 10,000 linear meters of custom-made white and gold Cabkoma Strand carbon fiber rods.

These carbon fiber rods, known for their lightweight yet high-strength properties, are typically used in demanding structures like bridges and high-rise buildings. Their exceptional durability and versatility also make them perfect for creating intricate facades and unconventional building shapes.

For this project, the architect envisioned a multilayered façade that feels airy and elegant. This vision was realized by installing and tensioning the rods in a complex pattern, with all fittings hidden from view. Each rod was cut to size, and all custom stainless steel (SS) fittings used for the tensioning system were produced in-house and bonded to the carbon rods at both ends. These SS fittings were engineered based on mast tensioning systems used on racing yachts.

The Premier Composite Technology (PCT) team meticulously pre-assembled the rods and prepared an installation frame to ensure a smooth on-site installation process. The final installation was carried out by our skilled team of installers. The result is a beautiful, sophisticated façade that enhances the luxurious aesthetic of the Dior Store, showcasing the innovative use of advanced composite materials.

ENOC Future Station Dubai recognized at the A&D Awards 2021

Jan 2022

For 18 years, the A&D Awards have set the benchmark for excellence in architecture and interior design within Greater China and beyond. They are highly respected for recognizing and celebrating the most innovative and efficient projects by local and overseas practices.

ENOC Future Station, with its carbon fiber, gahf tree inspired canopy built by PCT, wins Silver Award under Best Transportation at A&D Awards 2021.

ENOC Future Station is a Petrol Station of the Future located at the Dubai Expo 2020 Site. With sustainability as its primary goal, the project employs principles from bio-mimicry, designing and producing materials that are modelled on biological entities. The service station received the LEED platinum certification —world’s first station to receive such honor —validating its performance on metrics such as energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions, etc.

As a true pioneer in fuel retail, it is also the first station in the region to incorporate an on-grid wind turbine for power generation and carbon fibre in the construction of its canopy. An approach which traffics into the past as well as the future, the design nods at nature as well as local historical context, by taking the Ghaf Tree as the Canopy’s inspiration. As an endemic species, the Ghaf is a symbol of sustainability, linking the past to the present and providing a perfect basis for design of an innovative, futuristic and sustainable petrol station.

ENOC Service Station of the Future CFRP Canopy shortlisted for the Structural Awards 2021

Aug 2021

Judge's comment:

This visually impactful slender carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) canopy was designed to showcase modern technology whilst drawing inspiration from the natural environment.

By reducing the imposed dead loads and seismic loads, the lightweight, stiff canopy enabled the use of very slender tree branch supports. The moulded canopy shells also allow for integration of functional and aesthetic lighting and photovoltaic panels mounted and optimised for electricity generation.

An innovative assembly of the tree elements was carried out upside down using an assembly jig. Due to the high level of pre-assembly and accuracy of the parts, the installation on site was efficient and there was no site waste generated.

Grimshaw Architects wins Sustainable Project of the Year award for Terra-The Sustainability Pavilion

April 2021

Terra-The Sustainability Pavilion, Dubai Expo 2020, by Grimshaw Architects was declared as the Sustainable Project of the Year.

Matthew Utley, principal at Grimshaw Architects, said: “We are very honoured to win the Sustainable Project of the Year award for Terra-The Sustainability Pavilion for Expo 2020 Dubai. It’s a group effort between the consultants and client team.”

Drawing inspiration from complex natural processes like photosynthesis, the dynamic form of the Pavilion is in service to its function, capturing energy from sunlight and freshwater from humid air. The relationship of building to the site, and its physical and cultural contexts is critical, as the facility’s strength lies in its capacity to demonstrate a new way of living sustainably in a challenging desert environment.

ENOC opens Service Station of the Future at Expo 2020 Dubai

Feb 2021

"Enoc Group, the official Integrated Energy Partner of Expo 2020 Dubai, opened the ‘Service Station of the Future’ that will support the logistical needs of Expo 2020s fleet ahead of the global event and will serve the general public at District 2020.

More than 43,000 square metres of carbon fibre — a light, eco-friendly material that is three times stronger and five times lighter than steel — has been used to build the 133-multilayer canopy frame. The frame structure houses a clear, innovative leaf-shaped ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) cushion canopy, which is 100 per cent UV ray-protected and corrosion-proof, and illuminated with more than 3,800 LED light modules. The nine tree designs that support the station were built from another 22,500m2 of carbon fibre."

"Designed by Eckersley O'Callaghan in collaboration with Foster + Partners, the Steve Jobs Theater pavilion for the Apple Campus in California comprises a 47m diameter, free-spanning roof gracefully supported on a 7m tall glass drum. The roof was Fabricated by Premier Composite Technologies.

CFRP is twice as strong as steel, but five times lighter. This unique combination enables the theatre roof to be a shallow1.4m deep at its center, reducing to a blade at its edge, and achieving the 41m span without intermediate support."

Premier Composite Technologies installs UHPC Mashrabiyas at Al Garhoud Towers.

Aug. 2019

PCT has developed the UHPC cladding design based on a study of traditional Mashrabias under consideration of the structural requirements like windforce, shading, material characteristics and attachment.

To create the impression that the Mashrabiya is floating in front of the building, PCT has developed an innovative hanger system which is nearly invisible. The system comprises of stainless steel support brackets prefixed to the main structure prior to the installation of the curtain wall.

The panels are attached using slender brushed stainless steel rods and forks that provide dead load, wind load and seismic load support to the façade screen. The PCT decoration pattern is made of the innovative material UHPC, which combines great strength with low maintenance and reasonable production costs.

The Steve Jobs Theater Pavilion won the Structural Artistry Award at the Structural Awards 2018 in London.

Judge's comment:

The Steve Jobs Theater Pavilion represents a culmination of the advances in structural glass technology born from the close relationship between Apple and EOC. The 47m carbon fibre roof is the largest of its kind, comprised of 44 radial panels, which were assembled on site before being raised into position in one lift. This 80 tonne roof is supported by a 7m high glass cylinder, made up of glass panels, each consisting of four layers of 12mm thick plies, which hold up the roof without any additional support. It is the largest structure in the world solely supported by glass.
